It's hard to imagine, but there was a time when people would speak of negative thoughts and emotions as if they were actual things. In fact, many times these negative things were referred to as demons or jinns that could possess you. While we still believe in these ideas in some ways (think about the term "possessed"), we've made it a bit more acceptable for people to talk about their feelings and what's going on inside of them. However, this doesn't mean that negative feelings are any less destructive or powerful than they ever were!
How Negativity Impacts You
Negativity is a powerful force, and it can have a lasting impact on you. It's important to be aware of the ripple effect of negativity because it will help you understand how your actions affect others. For example, if you are constantly complaining about work or school, your friends may feel bad for being in similar situations and start to complain more often as well. This can lead them down a path of negativity that impacts their health and relationships with others as well as their own careers.
Negativity also affects our health--and not just mentally! Studies show that those who experience high levels of stress are more likely to develop heart disease later in life than those who don't deal with stressful situations on a regular basis (1). When we're stressed out from dealing with negative people at work or home life, our bodies go into fight-or-flight mode where our blood pressure rises rapidly along with other stress hormones like adrenaline; this makes us feel anxious about everything around us (2). This response is meant to protect us when we need an extra boost during crisis situations but over time these effects take their toll by causing chronic pain conditions such as arthritis due largely due lack control over emotions caused by stressors such as financial problems or relationship breakdowns.
How to Break the Cycle
• Be positive
• Be grateful
• Mind your words and speak positively about others, including yourself!
• Remember that kindness is contagious, so be kind to yourself too!
• Do things you love
• If you want to change your life, start by changing your mindset.
If you want to change your life, start by changing your mindset. Your attitude is the foundation for everything in your life and if you want to improve it, it's important that you understand how mindsets work and how they can influence the way we see ourselves and others around us.
How do I change my mindset?
The first step toward changing any part of yourself is identifying what needs improvement. Once you realize what needs work--whether it's being more optimistic or grateful or loving--you can begin working on those areas by using positive affirmations or any other method that helps shift perspective from negative to positive thinking patterns. Once you realize what needs work--whether it's being more optimistic or grateful or loving--you can begin working on those areas by using positive affirmations or any other method that helps shift perspective from negative to positive thinking patterns. The next step is to get in touch with what you want.
You can do this by asking yourself, "How would my life be if I were more optimistic/grateful/loving?" Once you have an idea of what it looks like, you'll be able to create affirmations that reinforce those positive thought patterns. When you feel yourself slipping into a negative thought pattern, stop and move on to something more positive. If you find yourself thinking "I always mess up," try telling yourself that "mistakes are opportunities to learn."
When you're feeling low, it can be hard to see the glass as half full. But by changing your perspective and focusing on what's good in life, you'll be able to get through any tough situation with ease. Asking yourself questions like "What can I be grateful for?" and "What is the most important thing that happened today?" will help you find the silver lining in any situation.
It's important to remember that life is a beautiful thing, and it's up to you how you choose to see it. But when times are tough, don't give up on yourself. Embrace the challenges ahead of you and use them as opportunities for growth and learning. When you focus on how great life can be, you'll find yourself happier and more productive. When you're feeling down, take some time to meditate on what makes you feel good. Then begin creating affirmations that reinforce those positive thought patterns. You don't have to believe them at first—just keep saying them until they feel natural.
